The inspiration for this painting came out of Paul’s visits to his little local coffee shop. It was the swirling foam patterns in the cup of cappuccino that the barrista handed Paul that became the inspiration for this painting. Paul created a computer-simulated fluid dynamics simulation. Then he captured and transformed the swirling energy into colorful, swirling brushstrokes.
So Paul got all the brushstrokes for free, since they evolved from the fluid-dynamics simulator. The painting, completed in the spring of 2013, is painted in fourths, left and right, up and down to accommodate it’s larger size.
